The future in tower crane integrated safety…. introducing CISS.

  • Tower crane communications today typically involve the use of two-way radios. They are half duplex, require the user to push a button to talk, do not work well in noisy environments and are subject to crosstalk from remote sites due to the crane operator’s radio picking up a remote signal. In the event of an accident, it is one worker’s word against the other when trying to piece together what happened to prevent future accidents.

Aspect International Limited introduces CISS, a revolutionary crane safety system designed to integrate specifically with luffing jib and top slewing tower cranes.

    Solution Benefits
The solution allows the crane operator and up to 4 banksmen to communicate in a full duplex conference call at the push of a button. The banksmen wear lightweight wireless headsets with a belt pack that allows them to communicate with up to four different cranes at the press of a button. These innovative headsets have built-in hearing protection and noise canceling microphones that allow the banksmen to work handsfree and the crane operator to hear the banksmen clearly, even in the noisiest construction sites. The crane operator uses an innovative gooseneck microphone and a speaker to communicate. He can initiate or hang up the call simply by pressing a foot pedal, allowing him to maintain contact with the crane controls at all time.  The crane operator can use the camera to zoom in on a blind lift to improve safety. The black box is installed into a dustproof, waterproof box that is mounted on the outer wall of the crane cab and records the audio, video and wind speed.
